Abstract

Iran's joining the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has been one of the most important issues in Iran's political economy in recent years, and there has been a wide discussion among officials in this field. In this debate, the economic and political consequences of this joining have been paid attention to; each of the parties emphasizes special points. This research aims to analyze the Effective Factors on the policy agenda of Iran's joining the Financial Action Task Force. Kingdon's multiple streams framework is used to achieve this aim. Research data was extracted from the scientific article, reports, and interviews of officials published in the media, and analyzed based on the qualitative coding method. Research findings are organized based on three main streams affecting the agenda according to Kingdon's framework. In the problem stream, reviewed the events related to the Financial Action Task Force and its actions on Iran. In the policy stream, the positive and negative consequences of Iran's joining the Financial Action Task Force are considered, and in the politics stream, factors such as changes in officials and public opinion in this field are emphasized. Results illustrate that Iran's joining the Financial Action Task Force is influenced by all three streams, and policymakers must consider all three factors at the same time.
